Rush Year 刀锋1937

Description:

On the eve of the War of Resistance, Zheng Shu-Sen (Sun Hong-Lei), a prison guard living at the bottom of society, meets Pang De (Johnny Kou), a powerful underworld figure hiding in prison from a vendetta. Against his will, Zheng Shu-Sen is drawn into a web of gangland intrigue. To survive, he and a few friends scraping by in the alleys, under Pang De's arrangements and designs, gradually grow into a force within the Shanghai underworld. The grudges and passions of three gang factions — Zheng Shu-Sen, Pang De, and Yu Zhong-He (Qian Yong-Fu) — inevitably become intertwined, ultimately shaping Zheng Shu-Sen into a gangster who surpasses his mentor. Meanwhile, Japanese troops begin pressing toward Shanghai, hunting down the New Fourth Army and other anti-Japanese organizations. Faced with the greater cause of the nation, Pang De, Zheng Shu-Sen, and his brothers sacrifice their personal interests for the greater good, throwing themselves into the tide of national salvation and writing a legendary chapter of history in blood.
