Azalea Mountain 杜鹃山

Description:

In September 1927, after the Autumn Harvest Uprising, the peasant self-defense army led by Lei Gang on the border of Hunan and Jiangxi, lacking organized leadership and with a motley composition, after three rises and three falls, stood on the brink of destruction. The following spring, the party representative Ke Xiang, sent by the party organization, was arrested on her way to Azalea Mountain by Du She-Dan's security corps, and Lei Gang led his men to bravely storm the execution ground. After returning to the mountain, in response to Lei Gang's having had Tian Da-Jiang beaten by mistake, Ke Xiang carried out class education and policy education among the fighters. The troops struck down local tyrants, divided the land, opened the granaries and distributed grain, winning the love of the masses. The traitor Wen Qi-Jiu colluded with Du She-Dan to abduct Du's mother and lure Lei Gang down the mountain to rescue her. The simple-minded Lei Gang, incited by the traitor, rashly descended the mountain, causing the self-defense army heavy losses, and he himself was captured and thrown into prison. Meeting his mother in prison and facing her criticism of his reckless behavior, Lei Gang was filled with remorse. At the critical moment, Ke Xiang, calm and composed, led a dagger squad on a daring rescue through the rainy night......
