Description:
The "Yangtze Crossing Campaign" was the first operation of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in its strategic pursuit of the enemy. It was also the great starting point of the final all-out offensive against the remnants of the Kuomintang, launched in accordance with the grand strategic plan of the Party Central Committee and Chairman Mao — "Cross the Yangtze, liberate all of China."
A group of scouts risk their lives crossing the river to gather intelligence, engaging the enemy in tense and fierce maneuvering. Show more They face layer upon layer of traps and tight encirclement and interception set by the enemy. With dauntless revolutionary spirit, their own wisdom and courage, the scouts plunge like a sharp blade deep into the enemy's heart. Supported and aided by the guerrillas behind enemy lines and the masses, tempered in the fire and smoke of battle, they accomplish their reconnaissance mission brilliantly, creating favorable conditions for our army's smooth implementation of campaign and tactical deployment and laying a solid foundation for our liberation forces to cross the Yangtze smoothly and ultimately win the entire "Yangtze Crossing Campaign."
Li Chun-Lin, a young, resolute and decisive reconnaissance company commander with rich combat experience and experience working behind enemy lines, leads an elite squad across the river on a night reconnaissance mission. Unexpectedly, the enemy south of the river is already on guard. The moment the scouts, having survived one close call after another, set foot on the southern bank of the Yangtze, they are already under the enemy's close surveillance. One encounter after another, fierce battles, life-and-death trials — all unfold immediately.
The scouts face an exceptionally powerful adversary: the shrewd and calculating Jiangcheng defense commander Fang Li, possessed of extraordinary ability; the sinister and cunning intelligence section chief Chen Sen; and the operations staff officer Gu Zheng-Fei, who seems to care only about climbing the ladder. Everyone appears to be doing their utmost, treating the reconnaissance squad as a stepping stone to their own glory. Under the enemy's meticulous scheming, one enormous conspiracy after another bears down on the scouts.
The enemy sets up a chain of stratagems, attempting to use false intelligence to confuse our army and wipe out the reconnaissance squad in one sweep. And before that, the failure of the mixed brigade's uprising and the betrayal of the underground operative "House Snake" make this reconnaissance operation even more perilous, fraught with difficulties and shrouded in mystery.
After a battle of wits and courage with the enemy, Li Chun-Lin leads his highly skilled scouts in cleverly evading danger, and finally joins forces victoriously with the Jiangnan guerrillas led by Liu Si-Jie. Not only do they expose the enemy's conspiracy, they also successfully rescue the captured commander of the Kuomintang mixed brigade, Du Zhao-Hui, who had already decided to defect.Just as Li Chun-Lin is preparing to lead the squad into the next phase of reconnaissance, a "Yangtze Defense Plan" surfaces. For this top-secret intelligence, the scouts and the enemy once again engage in a contest of wits and bravery.
During the reconnaissance, unexpected events keep occurring. Is it the enemy's deliberate arrangement? Or purely coincidence? If someone is secretly helping the scouts, who could it be? Is it the army hospital director Tang Ya-Wen, who is both righteous and unorthodox? The special commissioner Wang Man-Sha, whose background is complicated? Or the staff officer Gu Zheng-Fei, who seems to be constantly scheming for fame and profit? One fog after another surges toward the scouts. Around this mysterious "Yangtze Defense Plan," the scouts peel away layer after layer, only to discover that behind it all lies an even greater conspiracy…
While the scouts carry out reconnaissance of the enemy's Yangtze defense fortifications, the Jiangcheng Defense Command is also shrouded in mystery. Jiangcheng defense commander Fang Li tries hard to win over army hospital director Tang Ya-Wen to traffic in military supplies and secure a way out. Intelligence section chief Chen Sen and staff officer Gu Zheng-Fei fight bitterly over fame and profit. The special commissioner Wang Man-Sha, whose background is complicated, has been planted in the command, seemingly with other designs. Suspicion, lies, strife, exclusion — it seems everyone has an unspeakable secret behind them.
The Yangtze Crossing Campaign is about to begin when the enemy suddenly sets up a secret howitzer battery beyond the range of our firepower. To eliminate this enormous threat to the liberation forces' landing, Li Chun-Lin leads his scouts, disguised, to infiltrate the enemy's artillery position and conduct reconnaissance at the risk of their lives!
Throughout the entire operation, the scouts under Li Chun-Lin's leadership, with unwavering faith, extraordinary courage and superhuman ability, complete one arduous mission after another, even at the cost of their young lives.
