Description:
The film "The Gray Monkeys on Huanghua Ridge" tells an absurd and bizarre crime comedy story. Using an "ancient pottery jar" as a hook, the film introduces a whole cast of colorful characters: a seemingly simple but actually shrewd small restaurant owner, an unscrupulous businessman who forgets all loyalty at the sight of profit, an elder who understands the greater good, a petty man consumed by greed, a kind and honest country girl, and a money-worshiping, flirtatious young woman. These wildly different characters, together with a variety of thorny troubles, are cleverly woven around the "ancient pottery jar" as the central thread. Show more Director Zhang Pu chooses a multi-perspective narrative approach, making the plot tightly interlock. He first throws out the suspense, then gradually reveals the clues to the audience like unraveling a cocoon, leaving much to ponder.
