College students Ding Xin and Liu Meng enter a village to shoot a documentary about rural customs. After witnessing an eerie "soul-returning" ritual, the two follow the "master" — Old Wang and his wife — to a remote estate to film an exorcism. Yet events take an even stranger turn: the four-member exorcism team faces a test of human nature, their lives hanging by a thread, while everything that happens is silently recorded by Ding Xin and Liu Meng's camera.
