Description:
The paper craftsman, cutting colored paper, cuts paper as offerings to the living and the dead! For those who died a violent death, a paper figure is essential — it leads the way down to the underworld, so a paper figure is especially important for the violently dead. But never dot the eyes of a paper figure — this is the rule of the trade. A paper figure with dotted eyes gains a soul and is possessed by ghosts and monsters.
Zhang Zhen-Ren runs a paper offering shop with his two apprentices, Pan Shen-Bao and Chen Er-Gou. Show more On the Ghost Festival, Mr. Lin sent a security guard by car to pick up the paper figures, and the two apprentices forgot to warn the guard not to dot the eyes of the paper figures. As a result, on the way back the guard noticed the paper figures had no eyes drawn, feared Mr. Lin would scold him for carelessly failing to inspect the goods, and dotted the eyes of the paper figures himself with brush and ink.
Back at the building, the guard unloaded the paper goods from the car and found that two paper figures had gone missing. It happened that Mr. Lin was too busy and asked the guard to help burn the paper figures and paper horses, so the guard secretly concealed the matter. Without a paper figure to lead the way, the violently dead Lin Xiao-Qi could not descend to the underworld and had no choice but to become a vengeful ghost in the building.
