Senior and junior fellow disciples under the same master, the Great Emperor Who Protects Life (Adam Cheng) and Wen Jun (Chun-Yu Shan-Shan), battle with magic for a thousand years. Wen Jun, getting the worst of it, incites the other gods to lodge complaints with the Jade Emperor, listing all manner of "crimes" committed by the Great Emperor Who Protects Life. The Jade Emperor (Wong San-Man) flies into a rage, casts the Great Emperor Who Protects Life down into the mortal world, and gives him an inconceivable task: to train a stubborn, ill-behaved medical official into a famous physician, or else he may never return to the heavenly court for the rest of his life. Show more And so the Great Emperor Who Protects Life falls to the mortal world as Wu Ben, a folk doctor. But Wu Ben, with his superb medical skills and boundless wisdom, wins the heart of San Hong (Kelly Liao Jia-Yi), a fisherman's daughter. Hei Long (Royce Wong) and Bai Hu (Angela Chen Jia-Jia), who were framed by Wen Jun and banished to the mortal world, also form an alliance with Wu Ben and never leave his side. Wen Jun, whose only talent is harming others, suffers a crushing defeat in his contest with Wu Ben and is likewise stripped of his immortal status by the Jade Emperor and made a mortal. But he is not willing to give up just like that.
